Illustrator & graphic designer for Corro — an accessibility-first board & card game platform
This posting is over three months old and may no longer be active.
Corro is an accessibility-first engine for online board and card games — designed so that everyone plays the same game together, whatever their abilities. The name comes from the image of a circle of people holding hands as equals, with no head of the table. Accessibility isn’t a feature we bolt on; it’s the foundation of the architecture. You can try the live platform at https://allwelcome.games.
I’m the founder, and I’m blind. I’ve built the engine so that a blind player and a sighted player can share the exact same match — same board, same cards, same turns. What I can’t do myself is make that shared world beautiful to look at. That’s where you come in.
What we’re looking for
An illustrator / graphic designer to give Corro’s games a warm, cohesive visual identity: illustrating cards, tiles, boards, pieces and other in-game elements, and helping shape a consistent art style across the platform. Your work would be the visual layer of a game that blind and sighted people can finally enjoy side by side.
What you’d help with
- Illustrations for cards, tiles, boards, tokens and game pieces
- A coherent visual style and small art guidelines others can follow
- Icons and visual elements for the game interface
- Delivering artwork in open, reusable formats (SVG preferred where possible) so it can ship inside Corro’s
.corrogame packages
A good fit if you
- Love game art and illustration and want your work to have real social impact
- Care about (or are curious about) inclusive and accessible design
- Are happy collaborating in the open on an AGPL-3.0 project
- Bonus: any experience with high-contrast, colour-blind-friendly or otherwise accessible visual design
This is a volunteer role on an open-source project. If sharing play — rather than gatekeeping it — is something you believe in, I’d love to build this with you.
